  • What program's address book are you inquiring about? The following is from the OneCare Help topic http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2&market=en-us&querytype=keyword&query=qaf

    Backup file types

The types of files that Windows Live OneCare version 2.0 can back up has changed since version 1.6. OneCare won't back up any system files that are located in the Windows folder or the Program Files folder. In addition, version 2.0 can no longer back up the following file types:

    • BAK
    • COM
    • DLL
    • DRV
    • EXE
    • ICO
    • SYS
    • TMP

OneCare can back up the following file types:

     Outlook and Outlook Express files
     Financial files
     Music files
     Photos
     Document files
     Other files
     Movie files
     Internet Explorer favorites
     Recorded TV programs

  • When my motherboard died I was dismayed to find that my AOL email file was not backed up.  I think they keep it in a program file.

I know that it is not cool to use AOL, but I have a lot of inertia going here.  Is there any way, however awkward, to manually, periodically copy it to a place and format that One Care backup will look at, so at least a one-week old version will be saved?  Do other programs, such as gmail, make an address book that One Care will back up?

update:  I found that the address book is saved at aol, so there is no need to back it up.  The email file is stored under an AOL file, where apparently it is not backed up.  By going through AOL's keyword, I did find out how to copy that file to somewhere where it will get backed up.  See
