When you installed the trial version of Win 7 over XP (which requires a clean install) you trashed the XP installation.  You will need to obtain the rebuild media from Dell to reinstall your operating system.  Again, this will require a clean install also, booting from the installation media.

  • You can also take your computer to a shop that has the appropriate OEM System builder disk, have them reinstall and activate using that key from the COA sticker. You must activate by phone. Again, this will also require a clean installation.
