My Alerts and My Threads only show threads more than 4 hours ago RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

don't know if it is a general problem, but neither my lists are updated, nor the count of my threads increased. I wrote a question (Architecture) 3 and a half hours ago and replied to a post (Visual C# Generel) 1 hour ago.
Both threads are not visible and the count of threads is the same as yesterday. On My Forums and in the Forum itself I can see both entries and the alert-symbol.
Sign out and sign does not change the situation.

    Thanks

  • The Readonly servers for the aggregated data were not receiving due to a glitch.  Our OPS team got engaged and they resolved this issue and the servers are all up-to-date.

Please let us know if you are still seeing issues.

  • "My Forums Threads" tends to be up-to-date.

My Threads (or looking at other people's threads which is what I more often do) can often be a couple of hours behind the times. (Four hours is less usual)

  • Same here. Usually I see the "My Threads" update after 3/5 minutes.

  • In fact because I wrote that My Forum Threads are up-to-date, they are now (on the first page) NOT up-to-date and are showing me posts with the last reply 7 hours ago - and changing the sort order doesn't change this. (I didn't change the sort order before so they should be showing the default which is latest reply to a thread (or new post if the thread has only one post) first.)

P.S. Yes I am on page one; yes I have done refresh; yes, I've also tried clicking on the My Forum Threads again (and again)

  • This has been a chronic problem since about January.  Updates do usually make it but the amount of time it takes is highly variable.  Btw, My Forums Threads has delays too, they tend to run around 5 minutes.  Some threads never make it and require another post to the thread to get dislodged.  My Threads behaves the same.

That said, I'm seeing stuff out of whack right now, My Forums Threads is badly out of order.

  • Seeing the same problem here-- that is, I don't see my updates from the last hour. It's a bit annoying since I wanted to send my colleagues the list of SharePoint questions I have open.

Also, I'm noticing that a post I wrote 40 minutes ago has yet to be indexed by the search; a search on words from the title (pipe rss) comes up empty. I'm not sure if it has something to do with Mike W. moving it to a different forum (which changed the thread key and URL).

Now that I check, stuff from Friday is not coming up via the search. (Impossible Sharepoint Task; now search on the title).

(and, for good measure, my profile picture hasn't been updated, either.)

This shouldn't change the URL. At least it didn't use to - with the forum software changes you can never tell ...

  • Yes it does, since last year as part of the "sharding" update.  Open a thread and look at the address bar, it has the forum name in it.  Which means that when you try to be helpful and post a message to the thread to tell the OP the reason you are moving it, the OP will click on the alert link and get a 404 error.  It is best not to be helpful and let the OP try to find the thread back himself.  Sometimes they do.

Thanks Hans. That explains why so many people these days re-post things I've moved (and the occasional complaints about losing posts).

    ------------------

Microsoft Forum Guys: Is there any (good) reason why we can't go back to the old system and retain the URLs when a post is moved. The present system is obviously causing a lot of user grief.

Sorry, again the same issue. I can't see updates in "My Threads" from the last 40 minutes.

  • It works for me.  However, I do see stability issues, getting too many Error 500's when trying to move threads.  I'll report it.

  • Hi,

    In "My Threads"...

    I see these threads:
My Alerts and My Threads only show threads more than 4 hours ago
Can not add a .mpg movie to my power point presentation?
    ... Hole...
    outlookexpress

I don't see these recent threads:
    Favourites Folder keeps re-appearing
Unable to start IE 8 - it hangs. Reinstall not allowed because of "newer version already installed"

Also I see a "strange" behaviour in Activities (date and time incorrect).

  • I got an immediate Error 500 when trying to visit your My Threads page.  I've seen way to many 500's this morning, alert boxes with no message at all or "Unexpected error".  The aggregators are *really* flaky this morning, unfortunately not completely down by the looks of it.  I sent an alert.

  • This should be fixed now. One of the aggregator jobs in the backend server failed to process data. We've fixed ~4 hours ago.

I suggest creating a new thread and posting it to:
