  • If you attempt to run WHS in a VMware VM, make sure you use BusLogic SCSI disks in the guest.

    Works like a champ.

  • It works fine with IDE disks too.

I think in fact, with VM Ware (v.6 at least),  SCSI drives won't be recognized by WHS, you have to install VM Ware Tools to get the right "driver" and only then SCSI drives will be recognized by WHS - so it's not a good idea for the boot drive...

  • Just another successful VMWare configuration:

AMD 64 3000+, 1GB RAM, WinXP SP2 as the host running the latest VMWare server software.  Works like a charm!

  • Under VMware Server 1.0.0 I couldnt get it to work. I would get a "could not initialize the UI subsystem" error.
upgraded to 1.0.2 and everything works fine

  • I have VMware Server 1.0.2 and I get this error when installer starts: "Hard drive capable of hosting Windows Home Server was not found. Would you like to load additional storage drivers?" Even if I load manually vmscsi driver from vmware's floppy image , I still get this error. What I'm doing wrong? I have BusLogic driver selected for VM..
