Restoring from backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • My computers with One Care both crashed.  I have new computers and have elected to protect them with a different method.  How to I restore the files from my external back up drive that are 'One Care' encoded without using One Care?

  • You have two choices.
    1. Install OneCare, restore the backed up data, then uninstall OneCare.
    2. Extract the backed up data manually from the .zip files within your backup folder using WinZip or similar compression utility. Any large files that have been split by OneCare backup need to have the extensions renamed to .000, .001, .002, etc (depending on the number of parts found) and joined with a 3rd party re-join utility. This one is free -

Personally, I'd go with the first option.
