Why is 70-660 Windows Internals exam being retired? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been preparing for this exam for few months already and I see its going to be retired on July 31st 2013.

Will this certification hold good after it retired?

OR is Microsoft coming up with a new certification program to replace Windows Internals.

    Thank you,

    Naveen

  • Hi,

For now no equivalent for this exam is available in the new MCSA or MCSE track. This exam will still be valid for some time after it has retires.

You can still do the exam but it will not count towards the new MCSA or MCSE track

  • Hi Danny,

any news on this ?  I just recently came across this exam and it looked like a good fit to some subject matter I am going to be learning,  this page:   www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/exam.aspx?ID=70-660  makes no mention that the exam is retired so I was a little disapointed when I found out,  it would be good to know that there is a eplaacement in the works for sometime next year . . .  please  :-)

  • Hi Simon,

Unfortunately there no news on an updated Windows Internals exams, also no rumors on any beta exam being in development. The exam is not listed to be retired as you have already seen on the exam info page so 70-660 is still relevant for Windows Internals.

  • Hi Danny,

thanks for the reply,  from what I have seen elsewhere and what I have been told during an online chat with Microsoft personnel, 70-660 is already retired,  this would explain why I couldn't find it listed on the Promethean site.

This page:  http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcts-certification.aspx  says that 660**  "**This exam has been retired.

  • Hi Simon

I looked on the exam 70-660 info page and there is nothing listed there about retirement.

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/exam.aspx?ID=70-660

I guess Microsoft forgot to update the exam info page and they did add 70-660 to the list of retired exams.

70-660 is also listed on the retired exam list as retired: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/retired-certification-exams.aspx

I will notify Microsoft learning that they need to update http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/exam.aspx?ID=70-660  with retirement info.

    Thanks.
