Menues in strange language RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!
Just got my new HTC HD2 with Win Mobile 6.5
Almost instantly I discover that some of the menues in the Contact section are in a language other than Swedish (could be Czech or some similar language)
Is this something that will be rectified through an update?

  • Hi Erik,

I have a WWE version of the HD2 and all menu's are in the english language.
What is the main language that the HD2 came delivered with ? Is it swedish ?
Is it possible to post some screenshots of these menu's so I can look into it ?

  • Hello Erik,

Looks like a defect. Is this the default Contact application? Did you notice this anywhere else on the device? You may also want to try a hard reset of the device. A hard reset will erase all your data, so, if there is any, make sure you back them up.

Follow these steps to hard reset:

    To perform a hard reset

    1.

With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it. You will then see this message on the screen.

This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.

    2.

Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.

    3.

Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.

  • Interesting question Erik.  I might take the device back to where you got it and see if a similar device has the same issue.  If not, I would replace it.

  • Hello Jack, thank you for your reply

Yeah, I guess I will have to do that, the only problem is that I bought the phone from a company that normally don't sell phones, but if I can find the same issue on a phone of a diffrent make or model then I know that it is OS related... and in that case, what would be the next step?? Any thoughts or ideas?

  • Hi Mark,

The phone was delivered with Swedish as deafult language...

I have managed to take a screenshot now, it's available at this link:
    http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/1726342/1/Phone%20screenshots?h=3ea1d5

If your skills in Swedish aren't so good, here's a translation ;-)
     Edit Contact
     Delete contact
     Send contact by message
     Save contact on SIM-card
Ulozit do mojej karty kontaktu (Strange language, Czech perhaps, at least from that part of Europe I think)
     Show and add more information

I have seen menues in (probably) the same langue but I can't remember where now, I will try to find it...
The contact application I believe is the one built into the phone by HTC, so it might not be OS related after all....??

Linley, as soon as I am sure I have a good backup I will try a hard reset, I'm sort of on the travel right now, so as soon as I come home I will try it and let you know of the outcome, thank you both very much for trying to help me, it is much appriciated :-D

    Regards,
    Erik
