One Operating System RRS feed

  • Question

I replaced a hard drive with a larger one from another laptop computer.  I deleted the partitions then created new partitions and installed XP.  After installation and during startup it now shows two operating systems (both XP) and asks which one to start ( but there is only one).

Obviously choosing the first one 'all is well'.  I tried once to see what would happen if choosing the second one.  I got a messege <windows root> \system32.hal.dll is corrupt or missing and needs to be replaced.

Since there is only one system can I change / fix this somewhere so that my laptop will start up without delay or in a normal way?

    In advance Thanks!
