    We go through great lengths to ensure our software is not only virus free, but also genuine Microsoft.  The impact of volume license keys reaching the internet could be tremendous.   

    As a volume customer 80,000 seats (due to merger growing to 390, 000) we must have the ability to distribute software to platforms without users being prompted or internet connectivity requirements.  This is a major issue for us.  Instead of us hacking around the WGA,  we must have alternate methods to distribute software which do not raise user dialogs or connect to the internet.

    How about alternate setup switches which would allow for install and configuration with WGA running when it detects connectivity to WGA Service.  If not validated within x day deactivate software.  How about allowing WGA for Corp via existing SUS  or SMS services?

    Our team definitely looks very closely at Enterprise installation measures, while trying to keep a careful balance of user Privacy rights and "Informed Consent" agreements before passing any information to our servers.

     

    We do suppress dialogue boxes (that prompt for proxy credentials, etc) but with the caveat that in these cases, we do not send any information to our servers.

     

    WGA Notifications is not designed for enterprise deployments, which is why you do not see our program availble on "Security Tuesday" or on WSUS.

     

    Internet connectivity is NOT a requirement to run WGA Validation nor WGA Notifications. :)
