Stopping a contract line being mandatory RRS feed

  • Is it possible to stop a contract line being mandatory?

    When a case is created there are two fields attached to that case; contract and contract line. Contract is mandatory but contract line is not mandatory until a contract has been defined so it should be possible to avoid the need for a contract line. We have clients who have not yet been able to import all their product information to the CRM system or who have ad hoc items and support contracts. In this case the contract line isn't useful requiring it makes the entire CRM system unusable because while they can support their customers CRM won't let them enter that data.

    I could create a dummy contract line for every contract but as it would contain meaningless data it would be better to not require the contract line at all.

    Of course the "correct" answer would be to tell them to set up that data correctly before using the system but that's not really a useful answer because that's not where they are and because of the existence of ad hoc support contracts not likely to ever be the case.
