One way conversation (broadcast) how to

Question

I just got a request from a user that wants to broadcast a message to a group of people. Somelthing like an announcement that will persist on screen until the users closes the windows. Is there a way to do this in communicator?Tuesday, June 23, 2009 2:56 PM

I think the easiest way to do this would be to simply send an IM to a Distribution List. Unfortunately it would not be a one-way conversation as the recipients could respond to the broadcast. You could setup a special account for broadcasts and then sign-in to the account just to send the broadcast and then sign-out.

Maybe you can set a message from group policy?
But that would persist until the GPO changes

Can there be a facility for every user to send an Announcement (or Broadcast or Multicast) to a set of users - Like the facility we have in Lotus Sametime?Tuesday, July 21, 2009 6:54 AM

There is no builtin way to really do this, however the great part about OCS is the possibility of extending the capabilities of the application through custom application development. I am sure there could be a bot designed to send broadcast messages as needed, you would have to consult people with experience around developing on the Microsoft UC Platform, I will check with my group of developers and post back here if I come up with any ideas.
