Updating Accounts take ages RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an Account at Academic Search of Microsoft. (http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Search?query=Somdip%20Dey)

I updated my account: merged the authors (because the authors are same), updated the list of publications and account details (picture and home-page). But, my account is not showing the updated details of my account.

I did the aforementioned changes about a month back, and the changes have not taken place in my account yet.

What to do about it?? How should it be processed?? When will my account be updated??

  • I have experienced exactly the same issue.

In middle of December, I asked for update of my account ( http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/1381389/daniel-kral ) because I have moved to a different university (change of affiliation, home webpage). I also pointed out that there are two profiles of a colleague of mine ( http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/235676/riste-skrekovski and http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/42348316/riste-skrekovski ) and his profiles should be merged (in fact, his affiliation is the one in Ljubljana, not at Charles). Neither of the two updates has been done.

It would be great if updates were done quicker but I guess there could be a long queue of them waiting for processing...

  • I guess the best way to go forth with the updating process is to automate it using the user's company/affiliation's email id (for security and integrity), for example like the one for Google Scholar. I am not criticizing the way Microsoft Academic Search works, but in many cases it is slow and for research purpose some things can not wait....

Microsoft should think of a better way of updating user's account fast or else most people will focus on using competitor's technology such as Google Scholar. :P
