Windows 7 not genuine

    Question

  • Unfortunatly I took advantage of AGV PC Tune up 2011 free 24 hour trial. After running and following the recomendations, well my windows says its no longer Genuine. I dont have the original case that came with it due to changing the motherboard to accomadate an updated gaming graphics card. Never thought to look for the sticker. I'm pretty sure its a legit copy as I bought the computer new from Walmart unopened. Please tell me Im not screwed.

You did NOT buy this copy of Windows from Wal-Mart.
The Key in use is an OEM_SLP Key for an Acer machine – your motherboard is a retail one, which cannot support an OEM_SLP Key.
You need a Retail Key and license.

  • Ah - so that's it.

Your problem is that replacing the motherboard under other than warranty conditions invalidates the license to use Windows.

Having said that, if you change the Key to the one on the COA sticker, and speak very nicely to the Activation operator over the phone, they *may* allow you to activate.

    telephone activation.
    Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI 4
    and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions - but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.

  • I did buy it from Walmart, The Acer was a mini ATX tower computer. I wanted a graphics card to support FFXIV play. I changed the mother board to fit an ATX tower and the processor, ram, hard drive and all other stuff is the same. So what your saying is that if I buy windows preinstalled that I can never upgrade with out paying again???
