My trial period is up soon; I tried to subscribe but it will only recognise addresses in the USA. Why can't I subscribe from here in Canada ?

  • OneCare is available for purchase in Canada.

Check your profile for your LiveID at http://account.live.com and make sure that your full address and country are correct.

Check your Billing account, if one is already created for your LiveID, at http://billing.microsoft.com and make sure that your location is correct.

Check your language in Internet Explorer to make sure that it is English - CA (Or French - CA)

Clear your temporary Internet files and cookies

    Close IE

Open OneCare and try activation once again.

If this still fails to resolve the problem, please contact OneCare support -

    or

purchase a retail copy of OneCare (sometimes available at a discounted price) and activate with the retail key from inside the box.

OneCare is available for purchase in Canada, so there may be a problem with either the language settings in Internet Explorer, or you may have some options on your Windows Live ID set to US instead of Canada.

It might be worthwhile to go to www.passport.com and sign in with your Windows Live ID (the one that you intend to use with OneCare) and check to see what settings are there for your region information.  Also check if you have any other subscribed services that may be set up to US instead of Canada.

You can also open Internet Explorer and choose "Tools / Internet Options" and click on the Languages button and make sure the English (Canada) is at the top of the list.

    I hope this helps.
