Can't use, install or uninstall connector software RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate

I was running vail, shut that server down and uninstalled it's client software. Went to uninstall Windows Server Connector from the control panel and get

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor"

I have tried to upgrade, run as admin, install the connector software, running the connector trouble shooter , all result in

"A computer can only be connected to one server at a time. To connect to the server, you must first uninstall the Connecotr from this computer, and then reinstall the Windows Home Server Connector again"

Well, since uninstall fails, I am in a loop here. Can't backup either.

    ANY help would be appreciated

  • This is a situation, in which I would try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (msicuu2). Unfortunately Microsoft pulled if from it's downloads due to potential side effects.

So if you can't find it, you might try manually clean out the stuff from the registry. Since I am on trip and have just no Vail enabled client at my hands, I cant give you the matching paths to clean here.
