WGA and PC's that are locked down and unable to access the internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Currently I have a package ready for deply in a small environment. I used the IEAK to create a package.

It deploys successfully on PC's that are able to talk to the WS validation servers.

The IE7 installer hangs at the validation step on all systems that are restricted from accessing the internet (HTTPS).

I am unable to allow them internet access due to security issues and corporate policy - they are restricted to one web site.

Is there any work around? We are using a current, valid volume license for XP Pro.

It has been suggested to buy an IE7 CDr by MS but I don't believe it would bypass the validation process.....and they did not know either.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Brad

  • Morning Brad,

Please run the the Genuine Diagnostics tool to try and identify the issue you may be having. This way we can analyze what is occuring and can provide a solution.

Download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.

Step 2 is telling us about the COA. Tell us:

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?

    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.

    Thank you,
