Phone #s - how to standardize calling multiple countries? Using + for international? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am strugglin to figure out the best way to standardize the phone # field in CRM. Currently it is set to free txt. Recently we came to experience an issue where users are entering phone #s in various format.

We want to have abilty to have +(plus) functionality available for phone # when calling internationally. But I am just curious how would it affect if it is a local #....

Any suggestions how to approach this? Have anyone experienced this before?

    Kind Regards,

  • You can use javascript to format the phone number field.  Basically you will force the user to enter the phone number using an acceptable format.  You will need to account for both format types, (local and international).

If that doesn't work for you, then you can create custom phone fields, one for international and one for local.  If you create custom fields, ensure that you update the existing phone field of the Account and Contact record so the phone number is passed to the CRM Outlook Client during the sync process.  You don't have to add the field to the form, just update it with whatever is put in the custom field.
