  • Question

  • Hi

Bought my copy of Office XP back in 2003 from the college I worked at, they were able to sell licences under their Microsoft agreement, had bought Office 6 and Office 97 previously. Now 7 years later I am being notified my software is not genuine, why? I still have the discs I purchased (copies created by the college) and the activation code, strange it has taken 7 years to fail.

    Thanks.

Since you "I worked at, they were able to sell licences under their Microsoft agreement" (past tense) means that you no longer work there, correct?  If you don't work there your license to use the Home Use Program versions of the software ended the day your employment at the college ended.  What has probably happened is that the college let their license lapse for the software at which time any other Office version would also die when it is checked as genuine.  Still, run the diagnostics as requested by Dan and post it back here.  I suspect that you have a volume license key that has been marked as invalid by Microsoft because of the lapse of the volume license from the college but the only way to be sure is to post the report.

  • Hello suttonseven,

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Run" several times to download and start the Utility.  When asked, click the "Continue" button.  When the utility completes its run, click the "Copy" button, then come back here and paste the report into your post.
