help!!! for some reason only i can connect to 2007 using the client and no one else? permission issue? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok slightly confused. I have setup OCs2007 and the client software i have configured myself and all works fine through the AD etc and i'm showing up on OCS server Sign in no problems

When i set some else up Again setup through AD and it goes into the OCS server fine but when i sign in it states "Cannot sign in to communicator because this sign in address was not found Please verify the sign in address..etc.I have also tried a fresh AD account and still the same.

Is it permission issue? i have checked the events on the server and all i have is two warnings.

    Event 30232

Office Communications Server startup is pending.

Some configured critical applications have not yet registered.

    Resolution:

For script only applications ensure that the application is available in the path specified in the MMC, and that no errors are reported by the Office Communications Server Script-Only Applications Service. For non-script only critical applications ensure that they are configured to register on server startup.

    Event 44028

Exchange Unified Messaging Routing Application did not find any Exchange UM servers.

Cause: No Exchange UM servers are configured for SIP traffic or the RTCSRV service account does not have permission to read Exchange objects in Active Directory.

    Resolution:

Configure one or more Exchange UM servers to handle SIP traffic.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

is this why? but it doesn't explain why i can log in and no one else can't please advise...

    Thanks

All replies

  • You have to wait some time before replication is finished and OCS has picked up the new user

You can force OCS when you RESTART the Front-End Service

The warnings in the eventlog are not so important

-Startup takes some time and some applications are not yet started

    -Unified Messaging is not required

  • Hi,

Can you enable the communicator (client) event viewer logging and report back the errors please?

  • Thanks for your help so far guys hope this helps two things the windows event logger did say

Communicator was unable to resolve the DNS hostname of the login server invshqocs01.hq.invs.com.

    Resolution:

If you are using manual configuration for Communicator, please check that the server name is typed correctly and in full. If you are using automatic configuration, the network administrator will need to double-check the DNS A record configuration for invshqocs01.hq.invs.com because it could not be resolved.

but i can sign in with my own name. this event was triggered first thing this morning when trying to log on as someone else since retrying it hasn't logged the error anymore. don't know if it helps...

so i switched on the communicator log.

  • Download the OCS 2007 Resource Kit to your OCS server.

Using a command window, runt he following command from the Rousource Kit Installation folder.

dbanayluse /report:user /user:<SIP URI of User in Question>

It will let you know if the user has been added to the database.  If it has not, let me know and I will tell you what you need to do next.

  • Just to clarify are you the only account that has EVER successfully logged into OCS, or are you saying it was working for all users and now for some reason only your account can login?

Is your account a Domain Admin or assigned some other rights that other account are not? I wonder if you have some non-standard permissions configured somewhere...

  • Yes my account is the only one, but my collegue also has the same permissions as me domain admin etc. and cannot login. which is strange. I thought it may be a permissions issue on the pc i tried logging on a different pc and i can logon and he can't...So far there are 3 users that have been activated on ocs and 1 works (me) and 2 don't (comes up it cannot find the address) strange as they do show up in the pool of users aswell as me...

    Nightmare.

    pls help

thanks so far again i can't thankyou enough

  • Sorry for going for the basic here but...

Are you sure they show up on the Users folder under the pool (in ocs) as enabled?

Is invensys.com the sip domain for all of the users?

  • no basic is good because it can lead to the answer yes they do so up in the pool and invensys.com is the default domain for all users.

question:under the secuirty or member of in AD do the users have to belong to anything related to ocs for example RTC groups?

    Thanks

  • No they dont.

    Random shot:

Have you tryed to enable them again?

Open dsa.msc and "Enable Users for Communications Server" for the 2 users who aint working again, see if it helps

  • How are your clients configured?

Do you manually assign the server names into the client (please check to be certain)

Because the may have a roaming profile on the network that have previous settings (probably LCS 2005) configured with manual setting.

Open Tools => Options => Advanced and verify that automatic Configuration is configured

Or Manual configuration but verify the server names

  • Hi Johnny

Do you still have this problem? if yes; Are all users, you try for OCS enabling, originating from the same domain or from different domains? If you are using different domains, be sure that on each domain you have executed domainprep step.
