how do i reformat my laptop without a vista disk?

Your laptop probably has a recovery partition. What laptop are you having? For HP just start tapping F11 as soon as you switch on for restore to factory settings option. You can find a lot of suggestions and workaround when you google with "reformat laptop without disk" such as:
