Synctoy minor issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using synctoy to regularly backup my files. I backup in two places. I currently have Win7 and other application fiels on one partition and my documents, music, etx. on a second partition. A third partition is a mirror of the second and acts as the first backup. My external drive is the second place my files are backed up. I use synctoy to backup for both places.

Sometimes when I run synctoy, it will backup files that don't need it. I will even let it run the backup and overwrite those files. But then when I immediately run it again, it will want to back them up again. Also, sometimes it won't delete files that have been removed. I doubled checked to make sure that the echo command is selected for those folder pairs.

Overall, I am happy with synctoy but does anybody know fixes for these issues? Otherwise, anyone know a good backup program for this type of filing scheme? I do not want to use the backup and restore program that comes with Windows 7 because it makes image files. I want to be able to access individual backup files rather than restore the whole thing from an image file.

    Thanks in advance.
