re-import products in CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I would like to re-import some products with new prices into CRM 2011 as price list changes often, and I cant use any bulk update methos in CRM, so I need to re-import from xml.

The problem is, the SYSTEM NOT ALLOWS ME TO IMPORT PRODUCTS WHICH ARE ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM WITH THE SAME PRODUCZ ID even if its active or inactive or if duplication is enabled during import or not!

Its strange for me and I have no idea.

    PLEASE HELP ME SOMABADY!!

    Many thanks,

  • There are products, pricelists and pricelistitems. Because you say you only want to add/update new prices you don´t have to update the product itself cause it stays the same. You only have to update/add pricelistitems to one or more pricelists. So check what you want to update or where you want to add products.

  • Dear Carsten,

Thank you very much for your kind answare.

The problem is I cant use pricelist as vendor publishes new prices and its not possibble to dafine any method. Some products price decreasa, some grow, some products become obsolate and some new products comes.

What I can do is to export to excel all CRm products, check with the new price list, correctin gin excel with some steps and after that re-import. Thats what I need to do!

I can not delete products becouse they are attached to several different entities.

At the moment I think I must re-import and that will solve my probelm which I cant do at the moment with the standard importing tool... do you have any idea?

    Thanks a lot!

  • You should take a look at the import manager add on http://www.crmextensions.com/

Using this you could define import roules where your key identifier to choose between update/create can be the vendor-article#

If you already have those as product-id it is easy to get what you want. I use this tool a lot in my projects transferring data from source to crm. Easy to use, multiple data sources (even .xlsx files) and a scheduler-service. If you know where to upload the new source file, you can script a X-Copy Job to do so and the only thing is to format the data in excel. Even this can be done by using a VBA-Script. So the customer or you won´t have a lot of work updating your crm product catalog / pricelists.
