Can't updat McAfee after trial period RRS feed

  • Question

  • My 6 month McAfee subscription expired so paid for years extention. The McAffe technician had me  download a McAFee msi file to Software > Add-ins.
    Then Reboot the WHS.
After reBoot and in the Console I can not find the msi file in Settings> Add-ins > Installed or Available, (So that I can install it)however I can see it in Add-ins from Windows Explorer.

Appreciate any help you can give me.

  • You will first need to remove the currently installed version of mcAfee.

  • you are lucky, I even can't activate my trial on the HP X510, Emailaddress not valid... (tried own domains and live.de)
I am waiting since the beginning of January 2010 for a reply from McAfee, well what to say, no support, no help, no business with me
trial or paid service, this is a farce and bad for HP too...

  • I have had a similar problem.  The software worked fine.  When the trial period ended I tried to purchase an annual upgrade but continually get the run-around from McAfee.  Every support person I contact points me to another part of McAfee and no one seems to know what's going on.  I am not inspired to do any business with them, but do want to have anti-virus running.  Anyone know of good options to run on WHS?

  • I use Avast for Windows Home Server. The server add-in has the ability to control AV scans on your joined client computers, etc. in addition to protecting the server.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • It's my understanding (I never installed it) that you will need to log in to your server using Remote Desktop, then use the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel applet to remove it. Afterward, reboot your server.

  • If you don't want to remote desktop into your computer then you can install the Add-In Advanced Admin Console:

Then you can go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and uninstall McAfee.
