Backup RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Backup starts. I am trying to backup to DVD internal and/or external. The process starts and has not completed one dvd in one and a half hours. Try to open dvd and cannot open. Disc shows as full. Cannot erase .

I bought OneCare with confidence it would more reliable than Norton, which caused a lot of problems.

I bought this at Walmart. No Refund. Will MS refund my money. If I buy a product I should not have to

spend hours trying to make it work. OneCare has turned out to be Very disappointing.

  • Jumping to the worst case scenario first, you can request a refund for a retail purchase if you are in North America per the information here -

I am not clear how you know that the disc is full and won't erase if you can't complete a DVD and cannot open the DVD. If you are using DVDRW media that has been previously erased, try using new blank DVD-R (or +R) media.

You can contact support for help.

  • OK. New DVD+R. There is about 22GB to backup. On a 4.7G disc it should take 10 or so minutes to record to full. After 1.5 hour I removed the disc. It was still working as in "still loading" when I removed the disc. Anyhow, it was still working and should have been finished a long time ago. When trying to open the DVD, the drive "D" is shown with no files. When I try to record to this same DVD using another program,an icon shows the DVD is full.

  • Well, something is clearly not right. Thanks for the additional information. As I indicated in my first reply, I think that contacting support would be a good idea.
