Found a bug with create remote web access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Just installed Windows Home Server 2011 (Dutch version).

Found a bug when I wanted to create a **.homeserver.com remote web access domain with the wizard.

My live account had a quote-sign in the password and there was no way to login correctly. After I changed my password to one without 'special'-characters the wizard logged in without any problems and created the certificate and all.

Anybody else had problems with this?

  • I'm almost sure I read this before somewhere, that you can use other special characters but not a ", but I can't find the reference now.

This is well known problem (any special character causes a problem) and Microsoft has been made aware.

  • Any location on the web where we can find the things where Microsoft is aware of (related to Windows Home Server 2011)?

  • You need to go to Microsoft Connect (connect.microsoft.com) and log in with your Windows Live Account. You can then access the WHS 2011 section where bugs are reported.

  • It is in the Release Notes for Windows Home Server 2011:
See "Using a Windows Live ID that contains special characters to configure a third level domain on .homeserver.com fails to authenticate"

    Quote:
"If you use a Windows Live ID that contains special characters in the password (such as ‘”/\%$&), you may be unable to authenticate to set up your domain name. "
