Console View: Error retrieving status data..... Any Solution???

Question

- Getting this message on two differents windows 7 computers in WMC:
Error retrieving status data
Status is not available for your home server.
Check the status of your home server in the Windows Home Server console for more information.
Any ideas? The console view had worked when I had tried the PP3 beta. I have since reinstalled the server completely and installed PP3 and get the error.
The only information I can find on this is this thread which does not have a resolution.... http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/whspowerpack3beta/thread/2b64fdb5-c00c-4b5c-9577-4647ae5eaf60

Hi Todd,
if volume C: has less than 10% free of space, you should take a look what takes up the space.
Often you will find a oversized log file in the %qlogs% folder on the server.
(On the server desktop click Start/Run, enter %qlogs%, click OK, choose detail view in Windows Explorer and sort by size.)
Sometimes also the Windows Search database may have gone wild.
You could try to find the disk space eater with a tool like TreeSize.
[1]091201.083007.3125: UI: Error: Unfinished DLL: HomeServerConsoleTab.WHSAdmin.dll. User chose to retry.
AFAIK this points to an failing Add-In.
Try to uninstall the existing Add-Ins or try to rename/delete that DLL file.

I to am seeing this problem. This is both on a Vista box and a Win7 box. So far I have traced the problem to the lack of the file health.xml. This file is generated by the WHS service CqvSvc.exe (Console Quickview Service). This ser vice is shown to be automatic and running in the sevice list. But when I look in the event log I get the following error every minute.
Log Name: C:\Users\Public\Documents\application(11-09).evt Source: CqvSvc.exe Date: 28/11/2009 10:13:49 Event ID: 9000 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: WHS-SERVER Description: The description for Event ID 9000 from source CqvSvc.exe cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: Exception occurred: System.Management.ManagementException Message: Invalid class
Does anyone have any ideas? I thoght this was mentioned during pp3 testing, but I am not sure.
Oh and yes I un-installed PP3beta, rebooted and then ran update to get PP3RTM.

I still have not figured out mine either. I never had PP3 beta installed on this install. I uninstalled PP3 and reinstalled and did not help. I could not figure out anything in the logs that helps me figure it out. Here is what my event viewer shows logged every minute:
Exception occurred: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException
Message: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
I cannot get the windows search 4.0 to work either. I removed the windows search from the startup and disabled indexing since not working. They only thing I found in a Google search is a server reinstall.

Hi Todd,
is this on the server or the client?
In the event log you should see more details. Especially COM related errors or warnings are interesting.
These often contain a GUID (a long value in {} brackets), which you could try to resolve to a clear name by searching it in the registry.
The solution could then be reregistering the mentioned component, correcting wrong permissions, or whatever you find in the related error messages.
Btw.: Windows Search 4 is a component of Power Pack 3, so deactivating it is not a good idea.
Is there still enough free disk space on drive C: on the server?
Best greetings from Germany

How much free space should I see on the C drive? Have 1.79GB free.
Here is one of the logs. I do see some of the errors you mentions. I will check them out.

I installed a virtual server on the WHS and just realized I have the 12gig virtual drive on the C. I am going to try moving the file to a drive that is not used in the WHS pool. Then uninstall PP3 then reinstall. Then see if it helps.
