Practice Environments Question RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am learning Powershell scripting. I have used Powershell a lot in the past but am trying to learn more sophisticated and elaborate uses for it and no longer have access to an enterprise environment. Is there a product that simulates a large environment, or maybe VM's  or Virtual Boxes that I can download and test against?

    Thanks!

  • You can create a VM for almost anything. There is no one way to do this.

  • Thanks for your response. Which VM solution do you recommend? I don't know if I am better off downloading virtual boxes or doing fresh installs of W2k12 Server and what formats they exist in and if they are convertable to other formats. I am thinking that I will just create as many VMs as my machine can handle.

  • Windows workstation versions can only run two VMs at a time.  The number created is only limited by disk space.

Under Windows server versions this is only limited by the resources available on the system.

I suggest studying all of the documentation and videos on MVa to understand how this is done.
