"OneCare needs to update your service information" at startup RRS feed

    I get the following screen when OneCare starts:


    Windows to the Internet


    Connect to the Internet


    To continue monitoring the other PCs in your circle, OneCare needs to update your service information. Please verify that your computer is connected to the Internet and/or your system time is right. Open OneCare UI and then click ‘Renew’ or ‘Help’


    I see that a similar issue was addressed back in June 2008. I have two computers in my circle & both are up to date. Both have been running within the last 24 hrs and up-to-date and status is "Good" but I still get the above message (message only appears at start-up). I cannot find specific instuctions on this topic. How do I satisfy the screen request?

    Thank you for contacting the Live OneCare program forum. I know this may seem trivial, but did you have both computers online yesterday with an up and running internet connection? And were both at a green status together while online? Try rebooting them both too. This may or may not clear up this error. Also, you may want to tripple check your date/time setting on your desktop clock, and make sure it matches your bios clock too (Note: do not attempt bios troubleshooting if you are not an advanced user). Post back for continued support.

  • Affirmative to all of the above but just to be sure I did a clean reboot on both computers and had them both online at the same time. Both had a green status together while online together. Date/time setting have been triple checked. I verified the bios time/dates also. I still get "OneCare needs to update your service information" at startup. I get it only on my computer that I use to control my hub - not the other computer.


    Any additional suggestions?

    Thank you for posting back. Double posting is the least of our worries at this point Wink. With both pc's online, you have tried clicking Check for Updates on the Hub PC? Also, Have you tried disassociating your pc as your hub pc by clicking, "Stop using this pc as a hub pc", and then try re-associating it as a hub pc?


    I'd also try going to http://billing.microsoft.com and checking your information there, making sure it is all up-to-date.


    At this point, I would try for support below.




    As I investigate further, I may post back more options.
