CRM report in offline mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
If i am not mistaken,CRM 4.0 does allow running reports in offline mode. But when i take my outlook client into offline mode, the reports are no longer available. However i can see them when i go back online from the outlook client. What could be wrong?

    Thanks

  • Make sure the Local Data Group that determines which reports to take offline is enabled.

  • I don't think you can run reports offline, simply that you don't have SQL reporting service locally and the reports need SRS to render the reports.

  • Richard,

Now i can see the reports but when i try to run them it gives an error. However they do not give an error when i am in the online mode.
Any idea what the reason could be?

    Thanks

  • I have successfully run reports while offline using Outlook 2007, Windows 7, and Rollup 6.  SQL Reporting Services is not necessary to serve offline reports, just like IIS is not necessary to serve the offline pages.  I searched hi and low for documentation to support this, but to no avail.  All I know is I've tested offline reports and they work for me.

If you are receiving an error when running reports offline, turn on tracing and check the trace logs after recreating the error.  Post the logs and we can troubleshoot further.

Factors in whether you receive an error when running a report offline:
Security Role - try as System Administrator
Custom Report or default Report - the custom report may work online but not offline because of different permissions on the database on the server.
