Why am I not recognized as qualified for Bonus Pack? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased a PC from CyberPowerPC on Sept 29th (received via FedEx on Oct 16), and after fixing some build errors and getting WiFi configurations all set up, registered my Vista Home Premium today. It was on CyberPower's site that I saw the advertisement for the Bonus Packs, and from what I can tell, I meet all the date, vendor, and genuine Windows Vista purchase requirements of the offer. The "Redeem Now" link, however, ended up telling me I didn't qualify, but didn't say why: It just gave the whole list of requirements that need to be met (though I don't know how it could know some of the info necessary to say yes or no -- like purchase date, for instance).

BTW, I also installed Office Enterprise 2007 through the Home Use Program, but (despite not asking for it) CyberPowerPC had apparently installed the 60-day trial version. I see the Activation Assistant for Microsoft Office, but it appears to relate the to trail version. Do I need to register/activate the HUP version I have; can/should I uninstall the trial version; do I qualify for the MS Office Bonus Pack as well?

  • Dear vbuss1,

We have seen the problem you describe when Vista has not been activated. Please try the following steps:

    1. Right click on your "My Computer" / "Computer" icon and select properties.

    2. Scroll down to the last header, which should be "Windows activation".
    3. If Windows has not yet been activated, do so now.
    4. Try redeeming the offer again.

If you still fail eligibility, please create a support incident at https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?c1=509&gprid=9860, and post the incident number here.

I don't know the answer to your Office activation question - can you post that question in the Office validation forum (http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=1005&SiteID=25). Until Office is validated I cannot tell whether or not you are eligible.

    Thank you,

    Jenifer
