Help Please - W7 Not Genuine

Question
-
Hello Folks, I come here asking for your help.
Windows is telling me it is not genuine :-(
Below is my report copied from the MGDA Tool. I bought my copy of Windows 7 Home Edition from a trusted retail outlet, and know for certain it is genuine. Could you perhaps see why it has gone bad on me?! I still have the box and the liscence key.
Please could a kind folk assist me?
Any help would be extremely greatful.
Best,
m

The Key in use is the Default Key - which cannot be activated.
YOu need to change the Key to a valid one, using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page, and then activate that - you may need to activate by phone.

Something to note: I did a diagnostic check again AFTER inputing my genuine product key (At which point it tells me activation was a success) and thought the information might be useful. The problem is that when I restart the computer, Windows defaults to being not genuine.
Many thanks again!

Thank you for your reply Noel. Just to make sure, I have re entered the key on the box, and it now says it is genuine, but on restart of the machine, reverts back to not genuine. Is this why you suggest a phone activation?

That sounds like the machine may be reverting to Last Known Good Configuration because of other problems.
Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, press Enter, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.
SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your SkyDrive (http://skydrive.live.com ) and post a link to it so that I can take a look.
Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

There are a number of Update-related errors in the log -
Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Method 2)
Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file
Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your public SkyDrive so I can take a look - post a link in your reply.

Thank you Noel, here is the log link.
Nothing much going on in there I'm afraid :~{
I'm not sure what to do - I've seen some people have been asked to reinstate their liscence stuff, do you think I'll need to do a clean install?Best

I don't recall ever seeing this particular problem before - as far as I can see, there's nothing in the report to indicate any problem with the activation on your proper Key - but something is forcing a reversion to the default on a reboot.
What Anti-Virus software are you using? What other security software is installed?
Please post the Application and System event logs (compressed, please - they tend to be rather large!) to your SkyDrive, and post a link.
I doubt very much that a reformat/reinstall will be required - although it can never be ruled out. It's possible that a repair install could be needed, but that situation is a way off yet, unless you're in a hurry.
