Create workflow to monitor status of system jobs? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to create a workflow that would send me an email whenever a system job has a status of 'Waiting'?

In looking at the workflow process, it looks as though I would need a System Job entity.

    Any info would be appreciated.

  • Hi Julie,

Believe me you don't actually want it, you may get many emails/day because it's very normal that some jobs in the 'Waiting' process.
Can you explain why do you need it?

    Cheers,

  • Hi Jim,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I'd like to create a workflow that would send me an email whenever one of my owned workflows is in waiting status.

I have 8 workflows that route cases to queues, change ownership of cases, send emails to citizens, etc.

Recently one of workflows that changes case ownership was stuck in a waiting status since Nov 6th. The queue manager never received the case and it was time sensitive.

I know I can create and Advanced Find on System Jobs/Status Reason.

    I'd like something more proactive.

  • Could you monitor time to completion or time to user assignment of the case instead?

  • Hi Leon,

What I'm actually looking for is how to note when workflows are in 'Waiting' or 'Failed' status without having to check the System Jobs or run an Advanced Find query.

I'd love a workflow that was trigged off Status Reason of the System Job that is owned by myself.

I'm not sure that this is possible.
