How to Create a Custom Template for Windows Live Writer RRS feed

    1. Launch Windows Live Writer on your computer. Click "Blogs," then "Add Blog Account."

    2. Select the type of blog service you use from the list in the "What Blog Service Do You Use?" window, then click the "Next" button.

    3. Enter the website URL address of your blog site, the admin username and password. Optionally, enable the "Remember My Password" option. Click the "Next" button, then wait a few seconds for Writer to connect to your blog site and verify the login credentials.

    4. Click the "Yes" button to download the theme template HTML code used on your blog site. Writer does this by publishing a temporary post to your site. Writer deletes the temporary post after retrieving the template code from your site. Creating the temporary post allows you to create blog posts in a custom Windows Live Writer template environment that looks very similar to -- if not exactly the same as -- your regular online Web editor window.

    5. Enter a nickname for the blog account in the "Blog Nickname" field. Click the "Finish" button. Windows Live Writer opens a new editor window.

    6. Enter a title for the blog post in the "Enter a Post Title" field. Select a category from your blog site in the "Set Categories" drop-down list. Use the calendar control to select a post date for the blog entry.

    7. Type text for the blog entry in the area below the title box.

    8. Click the "Preview" tab at the bottom the Windows Live Writer editor window. Your post appears in the template just as it would once you post the blog entry to your site. After you preview the blog entry in the preview window, click the "Publish" button on the Writer toolbar to publish the blog post on your site.
