Service Pack 2 error message

I have been trying to install a game that I downloaded which has an exe. extension but I am getting a Service Pack 2 error message when trying to install the program. Also, my Word Perfect program cannot be accessed for some reason either.

I am using a HP Pavilion mx 70 computer, with Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7.0. I already performed a scan for viruses and spam that Microsoft advised me to do and it was free of these threats.
