Stream to Roku Device? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been using an older Shuttle PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 basically to stream movies from my WHS and also lots of kids shows and movies from Amazon VOD. I was looking at different media streaming devices and the Roku seems pretty robust. Also has ability to hook up external USB hard drive to stream movies. However, I have everything stored on my WHS. Was wondering if anyone had any experience getting their media to stream from WHS to a Roku device?

PS3 does not stream Amazon stuff at all, and truly would love to just sell my PS3 and Xbox 360 since that's about all I use them for these days anyhow is media streaming.

  • You may need to install a piece of software on WHS called Twonkey Server which retails for $19.00.   WHS is not true DLNa compliant which is why my Samsung TV could see the server, the shares, and the mpeg files on my server but not play them.   After installingf Twonkey it works just fine.
