Simple way to update posts with new signature RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is there a way to update my previous posts with a new signature? I know if I update my signature new posts will use it, I just wish to update the old ones.

I don't see a way to do this in the forum interface and I have a feeling I may need to look into writing a script to go through all my old posts and edit them.

  • I don't think there is any native forums function that would do that.

  • There is nothing in the interface as far as I know. You may want to add this as a Suggestion and you may send email to fissues at microsoft dot com.

  • I figured as much. Is there a public forum API at all? I know it's a long shot, I'm guessing there isn't to prevent bots and exactly this type of mass-update scenario. ;)

  • I think your request could be archived if only your old signature was an "external resource" which was quoted by your previous posts.

If your old signature was an "internal resource" which was exactly contained in your history posts, I think there's no way to update your previous posts.
