CRM2011: Rollup 9 to 11 Breaks Automatic Chart Refresh on Grid Views RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the last 5 months we've been operating CRM2011 on Rollup 8.

I finally decided to install Rollup 11 and I've immediately noticed something that now appears to have broken since the update. I've been a regular user of the chart display on grids to see a graphical representation of the data records I've been adding to the system.

Up until Rollup 11 when a record was added to CRM the gird and chart would immediately refresh to take account of the newly added or changed record.

Now Rollup 11 has been applied this has stopped. The grid still refreshes but you now have to refresh the chart pane by hand.

Is this something that can be fixed?

Does Microsoft know about this issue?

    Regards

    Steve

  • Hi Ashish / ALL

I never got to the bottom of why my charts stopped refreshing within grid views.

However, having just applied Update Roll Up 12 last night I can confirm normal services has been resumed and the charts are automatically refreshing when content is changed.

Don't know what the underlying cause was, but its working now case closed :-)

  • Hi Steve,

I have RU 11 in my DEV Virtual PC. I tested on Accounts entity and the refresh works for me.Then I tested on one of the custom entities and the refresh works. I am pasting the custom entity image just in case to confirm this is what you were doing:

Is this refresh issue happening in all your environments with RU 11 (DEV/SIT/UAT/PROD)? Also is this issue happening for all your users/computers? I am just narrowing down to whether this a RU 11 issue or your environment issue. In my case refresh works fine and is automatic.

I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

Hi Ashish, Thanks for getting back to me.

Sorry for the delay in posting this... I've not been able to post to these forums for several days!!!

This issue affects both the 'system charts' and 'My Charts' and only started since applying Roll Up 11. The reason I'm so sure about this is that the charts I am using are for our Time Recording product we use in CRM. When I fill in my Timesheet transactions I use the graph panel to ensure all my time entered has reached the 8 hours a day mark. So when this stopped working I noticed it immediatly.

It's effecting our production CRM2011 which I access using a windows 7 PC and IE 8.0.7600.16385.

Just to ensure we are taking about the same issue. In the image you posted above, if I was to add a new record or change the details of an existing record. When I save and close the data-entry form I would expect the grid view to refresh automatically (which it does) along with the chart pane (which does not anymore). I should not need to do a manual refresh.

It's interesting you claim yours is ok. That leaves me wondering would could possibly be broken to stop the chart panel from seeing the refresh message?

    Regards

  • Hi Steve,

I haven't tested the scenario for updates.

Yes, both (records list and chart) is refreshing for me when a new record is added.

I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.
