Home Server running Glassfish V3 or Tomcat RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to find out whether or not I can install Glassfish v3 on a Windows Home Server or if I have to stick with Tomcat.  If I intend to do dev work on the server (NetBeans 6.8), I assume I should crank up the processor when I buy a box, any suggestions on hardware?

  • Windows Home Server is probably not well-suited to be your development server, to be honest. It's intended to be used by people with very little technical skill, as part of a pre-assembled hardware software package from OEMs such as HP, Acer, etc. As such, using it as a general purpose server OS isn't recommended.

You would be much better off with Windows Server 2008, in my opinion.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
