    I have a Toshiba laptop that came with windows 7 preinstalled, I have had this computer for about 3 or 4 years.  This message recently popped up in the bottom right corner and it has a black background.   My COA on the bottom of my computer is warn so I cannot read the numbers.  I ran the diagnostics, here is my report:

    This IS the operating system that came with my Toshiba Satilite that I bought from Best Buy on 11/3/2009, it should NOT be counterfiet.  MY COA sticker on the bottom is worn,  and I cannot read the numbers.  The only thing I can read on it is "Label not to be sold seperatly" then on the other side it has Proof of license Certificate of Authentcity, Microsoft c2000 corperation, underneath that at the bottom it has these numbers x15-53758.  But the bar code and other numbers are unreadable

    Here is another bit of information, the LED screen on my orginal toshiba broke so I bought a used Toshiba off Ebay, took the hard drive and memory out of my exisitng laptop and put it into the used machine I bought.  The used machine came with Vista, but I took that hard drive out.  ???

    ....and by doing that you broke the licnesing afgreement that you 'signed' when you first booted your Toshiba - and broke the link between the installation and the computer to which it belonged.

    Tthe installation is classed as counterfeit.

    Unfortunately, the Windows 7 OEM System Locked Pre-installation (SLP) installed on the original Toshiba computer is only licensed for that specific Toshiba computer.  The license cannot be transferred to a different computer, such as the one you purchased on eBay.  If you wish to run Windows 7 properly licensed, then you'll need to purchased a conventional "Full Retail" edition of Windows 7 and perform a "clean install".
