  • Can anyone point me to the person I could discuss my account losing access to these forums with?  Feel free to email me, if you'd rather not post publicly.  Or post over in microsoft.public.vb.general.discussion if you'd simply prefer not posting here.

It would've been nice, for example, to have been notified such a decision was being considered, and for what reason(s).

    As I understand it:
Why would a user be banned from the Forums?
A user may be banned from Forums for using abusive language in posts, display names, using an abusive avatar, or spamming, among other undesirable activities. Each case is considered carefully and a user is generally banned only if there is no other recourse, or the abusive action is repeated and blatant.
Not sure how that applies to my participation here, and would certainly appreciate some clarification.  Obviously, given my point total after just a couple days, at least a couple folks thought I was being helpful.

I think there's a mutually agreeable path to putting up with one another here, but this unilateral stuff sure isn't it.  Anyone willing to talk politely?

    Thanks much...

Problem remains! Does anyone with authority over this forum have what it takes to respond?

Can anyone lacking authority offer email addresses of those who do?

  • I think the site is once again going through some sort of "update".

Be patient until it's done. I'm just guessing of course, but I haven't been able to log off since I logged on the last time several hours ago now. I've even restarted the computer since then and it still sees me as logged on.

    Hi Karl,

    Sure.

You haven't been banned recently have you? Surely not?

    John

Yes, I saw the "under construction" notice, but that's definitely not the case...

Worst part of it is, whoever did it didn't have what it takes to discuss the issue first.  What's up with that?

    Thanks...   Karl

Afraid so, yeah. And it's starting to seem personal. Why else would it happen without any explanation or warning?

    Hi again Karl,

Well whoever has done it must know it is a futile act?

Surely they know you can use another email address to create another account.

Then if they try to ban your I.P. address then you could even possibly get around that via a proxy server I guess.

    I agree with you. :-)

Whoever has banned any account of yours should give a reason.

If you are stuck as logged on, try clearing your cookies. Power down your P.C. and

any broadband modem & router you have for 5 to 10 minutes and the server(s) should see

your connection as dropped. See also my reply here.>>

Email addresses are infinite, of course.  But dingleballs are forever, and I was so close to having a nice pair! <g>

    Thanks John.  Sincerely.

I will say that, for the most part, I'm glad to see the extreme animosity between Classic and Fred camps has pretty much become a thing of the past, and we can (mostly) all look back, laugh, and move on now.  At least amongst the users.  But there do seem to be a few that still cling tight to that bitterness, and are actively looking for ways to express it.  But they have to do it in secret now, or risk looking the fools that they are.  (Like modern day racists, or something, I suppose?)

If you are stuck as logged on, try clearing your cookies
Don't think that's the case. I was definitely logged out, and tried logging back in again. (As you can see, I don't generally have a problem with that. <g>)
