TS Gateway for remote access

Question

Does Vail now utilize the TS Gateway functionality for accessing remote systems? this would be beneficial i think, since the connecting client only needs 443 open.. the cert can be used from the https website.. etc..

Sorry Ken, that’s incorrect. Vail uses the TSGateway functionality that comes with Windows Standard server, the previous TSProxy that required port 4125 is gone, now all the TSGateway traffic goes through 443, as it should.SeanThis post is "AS IS" and confers no rights."Ken Warren" wrote in message news:8428a023-1d7f-4694-b3c1-fa74aa3ecbb7...No. It still uses the same type of Remote Desktop proxy as V1.

Been able to remotely host applications on WHS Vail would be very cool. I could launch my own outlook from a hotel roomSaturday, May 1, 2010 6:02 PM

Really? Cool! I didn't see any immediate signs of that. I love it when Microsoft proves me wrong. :)

The Dashboard is a Remote App, so the support is there. However, using your server as a desktop computer (installing Outlook, to use your example) is unsupported and not recommended. You should install your desktop applications on a desktop system at home, one that's running a version of Windows that supports Remote Desktop, and use the gateway built into the Windows Home Server remote access site to access that computer.
