Work-Mandated AntiVirus on Computer, Still want to run OneCare RRS feed

  • Question

  • I love having OneCare on my system. My only complaint at the moment is this. I have an anti-virus program running on my machine, mandated by by work security policy in order to connect to their network. As such, I had to turn off OneCare's antivirus component. Now my OneCare tray icon is always the red warning color, because it mistakenly believes I'm not running antivirus software.

Is there a way to let it know otherwise?

  • Sorry to say, Dale, you need to live with the red icon if you want to continue to use OneCare and I actually recommend that you remove OneCare from that PC to prevent conflicts with the work mandated protection unless you only occasionally connect to the work network. If the work antivirus software is installed on your PC along with OneCare, you may experience problems due to conflicts at least when Tune-up runs.

If you wish to use OneCare, you'll need to contact your work IT dept and convince them to add OneCare to their policy checks so you are not forced to run two conflicting products.
