Top performing page rank changes

  Each time my "tools" stats are updated the individual top performing pages have different rankings.  I can understand why the listed pages change but cannot understand why  the ranking of a url can go from 5 bars down to one bar and then up to 4 bars in 10 days.  Why does this happen?  Thanks.
