Word 2010 keeps crashing RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We having a growing list of users who are receiving Word 2010 errors each time they open Word or try to do anything in Word. The error that appears is 'Word has encountered a problem- There is a problem saving the file. Usually this is because the file disk or floppy is too small for the file or is full, RAM memory is low or there may be a permissions problem.....

The environment we are running is below

    - Terminal services ( two Windows 2003 SP2 servers) running on Virtual machines

    - Out of 16 users 5 are affected. users connect through thin client PCs using a RDP session

    - Anti Virus software installed on servers is McAfee SaaS (v5.21)

    - MS patches are up to date (as far as I'm aware)

    - some of the users have two monitors, so they move Word (or any other app to the other monitor, which sometimes causes Word to crash)

    - the users with only one monitor (that are affected) will get the error when they open Word or while they are working on a document (or template)

I appreciate that there is a memory limitation with 2003 (4GB), however we try to split the T\S users evenly on both servers. Initially this eror was affecting a couple of users on one server, but now it's doing the same on the other server, but not everone is affected (including myself). Over the past couple of weeks, the issue has grown from a couple of users occasionally having this issue to 5, possibly more.

The other strange thing is if one of the users connects through RDP using a laptop, Word does not crash while they are working. I've renamed Windows profiles, that hasn't helped, renamed normal.dotm and it will work for a short time then reappear again.

    Help pleae!!!!!!!!!!
