Cannot validate Vista Home premium RRS feed

  • Question

  • Vista home premium came installed on my Dell computer and all at once when I
tried a download that needed validation I get qa page that says "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." Then a reference to "downloads exeValidation aspx displaylang en" at Microsoft.com.
Here is the link to the page I get:
     http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/exeValidation.aspx?displaylang=en
I purchased my computer from Dell and of course it came with Vista installed.
    Thank you for any help.

  • had a problem logging in and had to do another name.!
Anyway the problem has fixed itself, all at once when I went to the genuine
web page it downloaded the WGA tool and then validated just fine.
And yes I was downloading WMP11 for my older laptop with XP.
    Thank you

  • Hello Mrfee,

Would you provide me the URL of the page Before you got the error page?

  • Hi again Mrfee,

I'm not able to reproduce the issue but I may just not be hitting the server that is delivering the wrong page.

I have escalated tge issue, but in the mean time, lets ensure the issue isn't specific to your computer's configuration.  Go to http://microsoft.com/genuine and click the Validate Windows button. the next page will confirm that your computer is configured correctly to allow Validation to occure. If the page fines anything mis-configured, it will provide step by steps instuctions on how to correct it (or it may be able to correct it automaticly, using the Resolve Now button).

On a side note, the URL that you provided is to Windows Media Player 11 for XP. Are you attempting to download it for another computer (maybe an XP computer that doesn't have access to the internet)?

    Thanks,
