Windows Vista Home Premium keeps loosing its validation AGAIN AND AGAIN

    Question

  • I HAVE THIS PROBLEM TO- When I look at My Computer\Properties it says I have a genuine verion of Windows Vista.  When I hold down the Windows key and then press the Pause/Break Key I get a message in the lower right-hand area of the Windows desktop that says I do not have a genuine version of windows?  Each time an autoupdate is installed I have to go back and re-validate Windows.  What is going on? I have a genuine version of Windows.  I should not have to keep going back to validate the fact that I do.  The whole validate and activate process for Windows is seems fragile and fraught with problems. In other words, it stinks!

You have a Mod-Auth Tamper present – and an error that typically is produced when installing an Anti-virus into a machine with the RTM build of Windows (specifically, Avast, Symantec, and BitDefender have produced such problems recently).

You need to uninstall the AV, then update to SP2, and then reinstall the AV
