CRM 4.0 Enterprise setup error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We were previously running CRM dynamics work-group 4.0 and which is restricted to 5 user CAL's max. we purchased the server license for the enterprise edition however the upgrade process is not as straight forward as I anticipated as I was hoping to just upgrade the product keys through the deployment manager, however the enterprise edition does not have a product key (this has been purchased through the MS Volume Licensing Service Center). I have now learn't after uninstalling the workgroup edition from the server that the product key is embedded within the enterprise media itself.

So I have performed the uninstall process to entirely remove the current CRM work-group edition install, however after a reboot on the server and attempting to now reinstall the CRM enterprise I receive the following 2 errors:

    1. ReadRegKey(CRM_Server_InstallDir)failed

    2. This error occurs after I cancel the above error and continue wioth the dynamics CRM setup occurs after the initial update process. The error reads as follows: C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\2\MSCRM_(FC8EB071-752F-471C-94EC-5818FAe2E29)\ServerSetup.dll cannot be found.

I have verified that the above path does not exist and I have also cleared the Temp folder.

Reading the error logs I have seen the following error "15:18:22|  Error| The source location path D:\Server\amd64\ does not exist., Error, OK, Option1"

    D:\Server\amd64\   also does not exist.

Note: I followed the uninstall procedure outlined in the following link and removed all CRM dynamics registry entries.

I desperately need to resolve this issue, any advise or suggestions people have would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    A

    Thanks, Adrian
