Can CRM SRS 2011 and 4 connectors coexist on multi instance sql server? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know this has been asked in January but is there now a definitive response (supported / unsupported)?  Can't see in the documentation

    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/crmdeployment/thread/62a11d4a-eea2-4ebc-85b4-e2655fa10fe4

I really don't want to create a new sql server just for crm 2011 reporting services

Path in crm 4: C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM SRS Data Connector

Path in crm 2011: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM Reporting Extensions

so theoretically should be ok (one instance for crm 4 RS, another instance for crm 2011 RS)?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I have read that CRM 2011 can be installed/upgrade from 4.0 on an existing SQL Server but only with new instance as Config DBs of 4.0 and 2011 should be on seperate instances during upgrade process. And in CRM 2011, reporting extensions must be installed on the same server where SQL Server is installed. From that perspective, yes, there should not be any issues in CRM SRS 2011 and 4 Connectors on same SQL Server but with different instances.
