Configure E-mail Router for CRM 2011 online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We have 7 licensed user accounts with CRM 2011 online. I have following questions:

    1. Can we use CRM 4.0 email router to configure CRM 2011 online? (Reason: One of our friend has CRM 4.0 email router installed and configured for his org. We are trying to save the cost of another server and use that).

    2. We do not have exchange online. Our primary email addresses in our profiles are <name>@<comapnyname>.onmicrosoft.com. We do not have office 365 subscription. How do I configure this? Do I need to buy office 365 accounts to use these email addresses or shall I use my company email addresses like <name>@<companyname>.com.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

You would require to use your company email address and CRM 4.0 router may not help you. If you have any exchange server then you can configure email router using that configuration security.

    1. No, you can't use his CRM 4.0 router for CRM 2011.
    2. You don't need Exchange Online.  You can do a couple things.

First, you can add your onmicrosoft.com users as normal, then update their email address in CRM to their proper company email address before setting up the email router.  Then use your local Exchange information for the email router.

Second, you could actually set up ADFS and federate your internal Active Directory to your Office 365 subscription (which you technically have with CRM Online, even if you don't actually have Office/Exchange Online).  Once you do this, then you can directly create CRM accounts off your Exchange email addresses and domain accounts.  This takes more IT knowhow, but in the long term is very good for managing your users all from the same place.

  • Hi,

    1. You shouldn't use CRM4 email router to configure CRM 2011 online.

    2. It depends what's your needs:

    1) If you only want to track your email into CRM, you can change the primary email address to your company address, then use CRM Outlook Client to do the email tracking work. CRM Outlook Client is free.

    2) If you want to use your company email address to login, then you need to add your domain to CRM.
