  • The Product Key you are using appears to me to be for a Trigem machine - which is a rare one.

Your machine appears to be a eMachine - which is an Acer make.

For which version and edition of Windows is the machine licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case (or inside the battery compartment)?

  • hi Noel,

beside of the value of your respond to me, its pleasant to know there is people you can reach out.

i left my previous computer in CA (too big) when i moved to NY, but i took the HD with me (too small).

so here i got another win 7 computer like the previous one, but it didnt do the trick. next, was to get vista

(knowing vista does give you the option to save your stuff) after installation i put the vista key# and thats

    where i holding right now.

i guess i have to buy another win 7 and try it, (now at list i have my stuff on disk).

    thanks.

  • If the COA sticker is for Vista Home Basic, then the Key should work in this install :)

If it's for anything else, then you will need to either upgrade install to the 'new' edition on the sticker, or purchase a new license.

  • thanks again Noel.

it is basic, but still not working.

i am assuming that i was not suppose to change the HD from 1 to another.

come to think of it, any app can copy the all disk (with win) to a bigger 1, so maybe this way it will work.

  • What exact error message do you get when you attempt to change the Key?

0xC004F050 usually means that you've misread a character - either C/G/6 or B/8 or Y/V are the most common, an O/0 is almost always a Q

    Note that the following characters cannot be used - A E I L N O S U Z 1 0 - so don't bother trying unless you like the noise it makes :)

  • i am not changing the key.  what i did was to get win vis install it and few weeks after, when trying to put the key# that come with disk, my troubles start.

    and no, i do not have any of those: A E I L N O S U Z 1 0

    really appreciate your effort.

  • Ihave consistently told you to enter the Key from your COA sticker.

You are re-entering the one that is already failing.

You MUST use the COA sticker from your COA sticker if this is to work!! any Key from a Keyfinder App or suchlike will ONLY be what is already failing.

  • Does the COA sticker state OEM OA  Windows 7 Home Basic ??

If not, then the chances of it ever activating are vanishingly small.
